Aye mayne 🫡🤘🏾 ryte on. Jus had a shaggy mane pop up in front of my howse 4 tha 1st tyme. I myte eat it 🤔
Aye, did you try?
i recently read a study that most of the gas in the pneumatocyst is actually o2 with some co2 and co (liggan 2020 gas composition)
they showed that the same portion of gas is being added through all stages of development pretty cool read
I will look into it. That does sound interesting, thank you.
Polygala teunifolia ia actauly miracolous
Yes, indeed, though a different plant, same genus. Polygonaceae plants are interesting.
Shaggy manes love growing in manure enriched soil. Here on the farm, they like to hang out where cattle have been. Just harvested some georgous fresh ones. Nom nom😋
Yes, that is true they like "fertilized" areas and tend to pop up in lawns that receive that so choice is a factor in consumption. Sounds like you have a nice natural system going. Do you find cows ever consuming them?
I'm from Colombia and we call it sarpoleta
Thank you for your message, I haven't heard that one before :) nice to learn new things. This old video needs to be re-done.
I used the oil on my skin in the Amazon and it was a life saver. Prevents mosquitoes and other bites and heals them also. Good stuff!
That is fantastic!
very informative thank you!
Thank you
How important are annimals for spore transport? Not sure if i understand it rigt most spores are relesed when it turns to inc. So the inc is not the medium of transport i thougt. So annimals are not so important for transport?
Wind helps many mushrooms instead of animals.
Thank you for your comment! I apologize for the delay in response. Regarding mushrooms and their means of dispersal, most mushrooms rely on wind for the dispersal of their spores. However, there are some interesting cases where insects play a role, such as with cordyceps fungi that infect and grow out of insects. Additionally, ants can be involved in mycelium pathways. As far as I know, there are no animals that have a specific relationship with fungi for the purpose of transport. Now, let's delve into the fascinating world of inky cap mushrooms. These mushrooms indeed release spores as part of their reproductive process. Fungal cell walls are made up of a remarkable substance called chitin, which provides strength and rigidity to mushrooms and even insect exoskeletons. When species like Coprinus deliquesce, an intriguing phenomenon occurs. Within these mushrooms, enzymes called chitinases are released from the vacuoles of aging gills. Their task is to break down the structure of the caps, while the stipe, which is the upright part of the mushroom, remains strong and supportive. This leads to a captivating sight: a messy, dripping transformation takes place as the cap disintegrates. I hope this explanation sheds some light on the intriguing behavior of inky cap mushrooms. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
Is this the plant that runs fleas ???
Hey, in terms of this plant for fleas, there is limited scientific research specifically on its effectiveness against fleas.
@@sacredherbsandbotanicals I found out that this is indeed the plant we used in the country to run fleas from the yard. We used to cut small branches of it and scatter it. It is very effective.
@g.bangura that is amazing! It is used for insect control. You know, science doesn't corroborate all traditional use. In fact, I think there is still much to learn and gaps there. It's nice to know that it works to run them away. Is it burned or just spread out?
@@sacredherbsandbotanicals just spread out and we eventually planted the shrubs around the house. It works.
@@g.bangura thank you for sharing
This plant is amazing his root have one of my favorites smell ever
I know right??
Q sabor tiene, es agradable?
It is not a commonly cultivated fruit and its flavor can be subjective. Some people find it sweet and pleasant with tropical hints, while others describe it as bland or slightly bitter. The texture can be fibrous and mealy. Taste preferences vary, so it's best to approach it with an open mind.
🙏
I'm legit depressed they didn't fruit this year where I am. I'm dying for these fuckers. I wanna start growing them now so I'm watching every video I can on them. Cheers for making mushroom videos guy
Oh damn! Which area is that? Sorry I did not see your comment. They are delicious so I don't blame you.
Where you at bro? Are you sure about the season. They are fruiting where I live. Today! right now!!
@@ASMRGRATITUDE western NY. I ended up getting a few weeks of fruiting from them actually! Ate a bunch, left a bunch to spore
Now I know why this is so popular here
Yes
We eat it and I actually am washing a tone of it to steam and freeze for the winter. We call it njama njama and it is a staple in my region
Amazing! I heard of the greens being eaten. I have not done so. Where are you, brother?
Very cool
Yes :)
Love this, Farmer Drew! Thank you!
Thank you!!!
Bacopa has an interesting indication for eyesight that is just slightly out of focus, but not an actual eye issue... Maybe more of a brain issue manifesting as slightly out of focus, not sharp, vision. Give it a try if this pops up in your practice and let me know how it works!
@@ancientrootsisrael so much to say about it, thanks for adding this fantastic info.
What is the song in the intro of the video?
Thanks for your question, that is Ryan Harvey a wonderful political folk artist who allowed me permission to use it.
I love the Noni juice over the years of taking it I actually love the taste now. The plant is so so healing 😀
Yes, it is an acquired taste. I started to enjoy it as well, add some fresh lime juice and it's nice!
How do I prune it? Mine is about 5 feet tall and needs to be cut back, but I don't know where to start!
Certainly! It is a relatively straightforward process. Here are some tips for pruning this plant. Hopefully, instead, you found ways to utilize its medicine or replanted it after pruning. Just in case... if the plant has become leggy or overgrown, you can trim back the stems to maintain a more compact shape. Identify the stems that have grown excessively long or are branching out too much. Cut them back to a desirable length or to just above a leaf node.
How do we prevent them from dieing after Flowering. Great video. I have hundreds of these growing on my Lot I love them. 💚
Yes, they are great! 💚 Thanks for your question. Have you tried cutting the flowers off and letting the plant rest? After deadheading, you should reduce watering as the plant will require less water during its resting period.
Honey.
I used to harvest them around Seattle- mainly around Big Leaf Maples.... Great with coho.
Amazing!
Can you make root beer out of them?
A similar root beer substitute, yes.
Loved seeing the tree. I used Naam oil for the first time in the Amazon for bug bites and the smell is hard to get used to but it works great!
Yes, it's a nice tree. The smell is distinct, indeed. Thanks for your comment.
Do u have any idea what is the shelf life of dry leaves of this plant
Good question, unfortunately, I do not as I do not usually keep them long and tend to use it fresh.
I feel so blessed to come across this very informative video. Thank you so much and I've subscribed! I have this plant and wondering if you can eat the outer leaves as well? Can you eat the whole leaf? I haven't touched it for 2 years and is 4 leaves enough a day? If you ingest more, then it becomes poisonous?
Thank you for your comment and subscribing! When you said the outer leaves, are you just eating the outside of a leaf? I don't know if I understood you correctly. Would you be consuming it for a medicinal purpose or just to try it? It depends on what it is for and other health, environmental, and your bodily constitution factors.
Yo bro now long does this alarm take to mature?
Hey, maturity is at about 4m(12ft) sometimes it can be higher. The life span can be 10 years but grows relatively fast given the conditions. I'd say close to 8 ft in a few years will be mature. Like kava the minimum maturity for harvest is 3 years. Of course, South this plant you can use it well before this time.
Beautiful
Indeed
Any idea of how long this plant lives for?
Great question! It begins to set fruit around 2 years of age. The oldest trees I've seen are about 25 years old. They may live longer than this. Also, their living conditions could shorten this span. I would not be surprised to find much older trees, yet, due to their invasive potential globally, this may become rare.
@@sacredherbsandbotanicals Interesting! I’ve seen some with fantastic root bases like those of the bald cypress. I have started one from seed and it is about 5 inches tall. Hope to bonsai it one day!!
@@pyotrtchaikovsky3242 That should be interesting.
Just found the tree at my back yard.. am from Africa Ghana
Can you send me some seeds and leafs, sir?
No, sorry.
Aloha & mahalo for sharing your wisdom. I live in Florida & would like to find and grow this plant so that I can see if it will help with my autoimmune diseases. Again aloha & mahalo. 😌🙏
Glad you enjoyed. You should be able to find it wild. Perhaps an online search can yield some results for you to purchase it. Where in FL are you?
@@datswhatidrew I live between Orlando and Tampa
@@Kati_k_kuriosz I do not know of any locations particularly. Perhaps we will see some when I am able to do plant walks and in the area again.
This plant is the same as cathedral bells also native to Hawaii?
Depends on what you consider cathedral bells, if the latin name is the same then yes. Oliwa ku is in Hawai'i but it's not native it's is however naturalized.
This is a cool video
Hello..can I know if this plant is beneficial for ear deafness which is due to infection or any other reason other than by birth..?..I hope u will reply soon🙏
Hello Syeda, thank you for your comment. This plant will not help with the deafness per se, but you want to clear the infection. In many parts of the world and in South America and Brazil it is used for earaches and as an antibacterial. Depending on the nature of your infection this could help. I would employ other herbs though like mullein with garlic OR garlic oil and/or tea tree oil, lavender, or st.johns wort to name a few. You can also put hydrogen peroxide on a cotton swabs first then add a few drops of herbs afterwards.
Sup drew. It's blocks. Glad to see your channel
Thank you brotha!
It pronounced "oha santa" as the H is silent and J makes an H sound, but other than that thank for the informative video!
Thank you for correcting me. I am glad you found it informative.
can i eat this plant?
You can yes. Like anything not to much, I generally use about 4 leaves in tea but juicing it would require more so eating it would be just as suitable.
Never mind I understand what you're explaining.
I love one of the world I am from Trinidad is so I know it’s a wonderful plan
Yes, it grows all over the Caribbean. Bless up!
Nice video sir. From India
Thank you sir
Thank you!
New guinea impatiens seeds explode like that too.
Deplorable Colleen it’s an interesting choice of seed dispersal
listen to video before posting, at times it is hard to hear.
Kyra Patton thank you, I see what you mean in the beginning and in the end and at a couple points where strong wind enters the equation. I don’t have any kind of professional set up so I do the best that I can. Feel free to ask if you would like anything reiterated.

Yes, the tree does not do well below 40 degrees Fahrenheit. It does well in temperatures up to 98 degrees Fahrenheit. It can withstand hotter temperatures for a short amount of time.
Very helpful
